Help Bring Ultrafast Broadband To Our Villages

Openreach have identified the Haseley Knob exchange as suitable for upgrading to full-fibre to homes and business across our villages. This provides an opportunity for us to future proof our network with funding provided by the government under the Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme.

Published: 13 January 2025

What is wrong with our current broadband?

The current network is fibre to the exchange then copper to homes and businesses. This has several drawbacks:

  • The further you are from the exchange, the slower your broadband speed
  • Copper deteriorates over time resulting in slower speeds
  • Telephone landlines are due to be withdrawn in 2025 with calls moving to broadband. Television is due to move solely to broadband a few years later. This extra demand on broadband would slow speeds further

Full fibre overcomes these issues as well as increasing current speeds by 10 times or more and bringing more providers

When will this happen

Enough residents across the area have registered their interest for the project to progress. You may have seen some of the new telegraph poles being erected. It is still important for as many residents as possible to register as this will ensure the project is fully funded. You can check your eligibility online through the link shown on the graphic below.

Let’s future-proof our villages!
